Microneedling and Facial Acupuncture

Microneedling

What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a cutting-edge technique designed to rejuvenate and revitalize the skin. This procedure uses an FDA-approved medical device equipped with fine needles to create controlled micro-punctures on the skin’s surface. These tiny punctures stimulate the skin’s natural healing process, promoting the production of collagen and elastin—proteins essential for maintaining skin elasticity, firmness, and youthfulness.

What happens during microneedling session?

During a microneedling session, the medical practitioner gently glides the device over the skin, ensuring even coverage with minimal discomfort. The micro-injuries prompt the skin to regenerate and repair itself, resulting in improved texture, tone, and overall appearance.  It is used in the treatment of acne scars, burn scars, stretch marks, cellulitis, alopecia, and other conditions in most areas of the body. Additionally, microneedling enhances the absorption and effectiveness of skincare products by 300%, allowing for deeper penetration of active ingredients.

LED AcuLight Therapy

LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses different wavelengths of infrared light to address various skin issues and is typically used in conjunction with Microneedling. LED Light therapy can stimulate collagen production, which helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Even more importantly, LED light therapy promotes anti-ageing effects by repairing sun damage and reducing inflammation. It also eliminates acne-causing bacteria, enhancing skin clarity. It is also effective for treating inflammation and pain in the joints including TMJ. We use the AcuLight device from AcuMicro, with over 15,000 lumens, which delivers therapeutically effective treatment in a short amount of time.

Packages for optimal results

Facial Acupuncture

What is Facial Acupuncture?

Facial acupuncture, rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, offers a holistic approach to skincare by targeting both internal and external factors affecting skin health. This practice involves the strategic insertion of ultra-fine needles into specific acupuncture points on the face and body, aiming to restore balance to the body’s Qi, blood and fluids flow.

Stimulating these acupuncture points promotes circulation, lymphatic drainage, and the release of tension in facial muscles. This not only improves blood flow and oxygenation to the skin but also encourages collagen and elastin production, leading to firmer, smoother, and more radiant skin. Furthermore, facial acupuncture addresses underlying imbalances in the body that may manifest as skin issues such as acne, rosacea, or dullness, promoting overall wellness and vitality from within.

Facial Acupuncture Treatments

Facial acupuncture is a separate treatment which can be combined with LED AcuLight therapy, but not with Microneedling.

Both microneedling and facial acupuncture offer natural, non-invasive approaches to skincare, helping you achieve a rejuvenated and revitalized complexion.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines for Microneedling

The first step of the microneedling treatment is a consultation with your health care practitioner. They will evaluate your eligibility for the treatment. If you’re pregnant or taking certain acne medication, you may not be eligible.

Microneedling providers recommend that patients adhere to the following guidelines to ensure optimal results and minimize potential side effects:

  • Avoid exfoliation, laser treatments, and facials for two weeks prior to the procedure.
  • Discontinue the use of acne medications for several weeks or months, as directed by your healthcare provider.
  • Stop using retinoid products to reduce skin sensitivity.
  • Avoid blood-thinning and anti-inflammatory medications for one week to reduce the risk of bruising.
  • Refrain from tanning or extensive sun exposure for two weeks.
  • Avoid consuming coffee or alcohol for 24 hours before the treatment.
  • Do not take fish oil supplements for 48 hours, as they can increase bleeding risk.
  • Ensure adequate hydration by drinking plenty of water for several days leading up to the treatment.
