Mindfulness, Meditation & Biofeedback

In the pause between breaths, healing begins

DEFINITION

About Mindfulness

Mindfulness, meditation, and biofeedback are foundational mind-body practices at our clinic, and honestly, they may be one of the most under-appreciated tools in modern medicine. A nervous system that knows how to self-regulate is the doorway to whole-body coherence, and that's essential groundwork for healing almost any symptom.

Through focused sessions, small groups, and often as part of your regular doctor's visit, patients learn breathing, movement, meditation, journaling, and other ways to build mindfulness into daily life.

These practices are especially helpful for chronic pain, anxiety, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and trauma-related conditions, offering evidence-based, non-pharmacological support that complements our other integrative treatments. Healthcare needs to be about health, not just disease management, and this is where that shift begins.

Mindfulness practices include meditation, gentle movement, and breath-based work such as yoga, qigong, and Somatic Experiencing, and Traditional Chinese Medicine approaches that integrate mindfulness into everyday living.

Biofeedback sessions offer real-time feedback on heart rate variability (HRV), muscle tension, and other body signals, helping patients consciously influence their nervous system. It's remarkable to watch happen.

ADVANTAGE

How we do it at GWCIM

At GWCIM, we use Mindfulness, Meditation, and Biofeedback as clinical tools alongside acupuncture, functional medicine, somatic therapy, and more. Our providers are trauma-informed, clinically experienced, and skilled at meeting each patient where they are — whether you're brand new to meditation or looking to deepen an existing practice. They work under their specific scope of practice.

We also integrate these tools into broader treatment plans for chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, EDS, long COVID, mental health, and cognitive decline, recognizing that nervous system regulation is central to healing in virtually every condition we treat.

Care Options

Personal Sessions

During private sessions with our practitioners, patients learn how to meditate, self-regulate their nervous system, use breathing and movement practices, apply biofeedback, and integrate mindfulness into their daily life and healing.

Groups, Classes, Courses

We offer an MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) course once or twice a year. We are also planning to offer other types of mindfulness groups, such as “Basic Self-Regulation Skills” and small mindfulness retreats. Sign up for our newsletter to hear about upcoming courses and classes first.
