Doctor of Functional Medicine and Chiropractic

CIRS Consultant

Dr. Jonah Yakel is a chiropractor and functional medicine practitioner who focuses on mold related illness, inflammation, CIRS, and autoimmune related conditions. He joined George Washington Center for Integrative Medicine bringing his own personal experience navigating himself and his family, in addition to his clients, through the complexities of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) and increased susceptibility to mold and biotoxins.
His interest in natural health and healing began early in life. When he was 19 years old, he lost his father to kidney cancer. Inspired to support people healing from the inside out, he received his doctorate degree in chiropractic iin 2003 from Parker University in Dallas, TX. He has been in practice for over 12 years and in 2010 he founded Lifegate Health Center in Overland Park, KS. His own personal experience and health journey has lead him to focus on mold related illness working with experts in the field including Dr. Richie Shoemaker. https://www.survivingmold.com/
Dr. Yakel is a firm believer that the human body, as with all of life, is pure intelligence, always seeking to achieve greater states of health and wholeness. This principle informs him in his approach to healthcare. Specializing in a functional approach, he is always seeking to discover the underlying source of one’s health challenges instead of treating symptoms.
In 2009 Dr. Yakel was faced with his own healing crisis when he was involved in a traumatic car accident resulting in nearly thirty fractures, massive internal damage, a month long stay in ICU. After a year of intense recovery what emerged was not only a profound faith in the body’s miraculous ability to heal, but a deep knowledge and understanding as to how to steward individuals through the healing process.

At GWCIM (remotely) Dr. Yakel provides video consultations and coaching.  Working in close collaboration with Dr Kogan, Dr. Yakel provides intense follow up often needed to assist patients in recovering from Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) and Mold Toxicity. Recovering from mold related illness can be a complex and intensive process. Drawing from personal experience with himself and his family, while also working with experts in the field including Dr. Richie Shoemaker, Dr. Yakel brings a depth of knowledge to supporting people in the healing process. This process includes removal from the toxic environment, cleansing and detoxifying the body of bio-toxins, and supporting the body’s recovery from damage caused by chronic inflammation as a result of mold exposure.

In his spare time Dr. Yakel serves on the board of MaxLove, a non-profit organization founded to help childhood thrive cancer and related life threatening illnesses. Dr. Yakel actively teaches chiropractors and other healthcare practitioners on the practice of functional medicine and its role in addressing chronic inflammation and supporting optimal brain health. He lives in Overland Park, KS, with his wife Jenni, and two children Jacob and Amalie.
